Re “Will the Sol Ever Shine Again Over Culver City

I am Sol Blumenfeld's son, and I am writing about a recent article on the current (sad) activities in Culver City surrounding redevelopment and the Community Development Dept., where he is the director.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank the newspaper for the story. I know I'm a bit biased, being his son and all, but it was a wonderful piece.

Thank you for taking the time to profile him. My dad has dedicated more years than I can count for his profession. Working in Culver City has been a dream come true for him; I've watched that city transform under his leadership, and he never asks anyone to thank him.

The article really hit on all the reasons why he does this kind of work. I'm sad that our governor has cut funding to his department, but your words made me momentarily forget all that and instead appreciate the man who has worked so hard to make Culver City a great place to live. So, again, thank you. It made me smile. And I'm certain it made the rest of our family smile as well.

In a separate letter, Sol Blumenfeld wrote:

Thank you for the kind words in your recent article on Culver City redevelopment. Though it’s hard to accept the outcome from the state, it really helps to know that our efforts are appreciated. If we can make the projects now in the redevelopment pipeline stick there will be some nice things to show for the work over the last few years.
