By Cary Anderson. It was interesting to read Michael Gotz’s letter. Somehow he thinks a “traditional community institution” should have rights over homeowners in a residential neighborhood. He seems upset that homeowners “… are afforded some (really stupid and selfish) legal rights…” Mr. Gotz doesn’t seem to realize that residential parking permit programs are a legal right not only in Culver City, but a lot of other Southern California cities.
Let’s Set the Record Straight on Grace Lutheran vs. Farragut Drive
By Paulette Greenberg. One’s activity within a community does not equal goodness. Being “active” in one’s community is not equal to goodness. If so, as letter-writer Michael Gotz contends, then why are so many “active” people either in prison or ex-convicts, e.g., clergy, members of religious institutions, teachers, politicians. Goodness is what a person does in his life to make the world more whole. Goodness is defending the rights of others when the government …
Dear Community: Time to Stand up for Grace Lutheran
By Michael Gotz. I have lived in Culver City since 1978. I have been active in civic, school, religious, and many other community affairs. This is my town. It is also Andy Weissman's town, Ken Smith's town, and it is the town of all citizens who share certain community values and have volunteered their time and energy to make this a better place.

By Steve Rose. In reading Garth Sanders’ “story” on actions of the City Council about approval of signs, I would like to state the facts. Here is what really happened, not the fiction alleged by Mr. Sanders. Below is an exact two-paragraph report from the Assistant City Manager/City Clerk Martin Cole on his “Meeting in a Minute” report. I quote:
Jews for Peace Had Hoped to Influence Biden’s Speech
By Jeff Warner. [Editor’s Note: Last week, the letter below, written by an Oakland member of Jewish Voice for Peace and addressed to Jeff Warner, leader of L.A. Jews for Peace, urgently was dispatched to Jews for Peace members. The goal was to encourage Vice President Joe Biden to be critical of Israel when he addressed a huge Jewish group yesterday. A brief recap of Mr. Biden’s talk follows.]
Weissman Critic Urges Finding of Brown Act Violation
By Les Greenberg.Dear Mr. Cole: On behalf of certain residents of the 10700 block of Farragut Drive, I recently filed a Brown Act cease-and-desist letter with Culver City. In substance, the allegations deal with Councilperson Andrew Weissman causing the City Council to discuss and act upon a matter which did not appear on the Aug. 11, 2014, City Council meeting Agenda.
Disagreeing with Weissman’s Positions on Church Parking Cntroversy
By Paulette Greenberg. Dear Mr. Cole:The City Council’s decision on my Brown Act complaint should not be influenced by statements by Councilperson Andrew Weissman, as he is an advocate for the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, and otherwise lacks credibility.
