A lady of my acquaintance for 25 years Facebooked me the other day, soliciting support for Prop. 30. I am fond of her, and normally I would have enthusiastically acquiesced for one of her causes.

“Founded in 1975, The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States serving children with special needs related to autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse and emotional problems. The Help Group's seven specialized day schools, on six campuses, including Culver City, offer pre-K through high school programs for more than 1,400 students.”

To those of us who sometimes deplore peace, as when two shifty-eyed liberals are spraying bullets at each other, the fight between the nasty, low-class backers of school-funding Prop. 30 and the slightly less bad people backing the rival Prop.38 at the All Wrong Corral is delicious dessert.

I heard a talk this morning from the most impressive, soundest thinking woman I have encountered since meeting my wife.

I am confident all five members of the School Board will disagree this afternoon, but the conviction is inescapable that El Marino Language School got away with one last night.
