20 Plugs and My Son on the Roof

Robert EbsenOP-ED

My wife recently told me she doesn't want me to go on the roof anymore. I kind of understand what she means. When I get out of the car, or sometimes when I stand up, I'm a little dizzy. It would not be a good idea to be on the roof. After noticing a pretty big leak in one of my solar panels on the roof, I got in touch with our handyman. A nice person, he does a good job. But I never can count on …

Circle of Children of Friends

Robert EbsenOP-ED

I have recently been preparing flash drives for family. Once I complete the flash drive for my son, I will copy it for my other children and family members. Photos, documents, genealogies and videos are on the drive. One video was taken at the breakfast get-together for my out-of-town friends at the wedding of my daughter, four years ago.

Siriously, I Have a New Best Friend

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Hey, Siri, I just downloaded iOS 8. There is only one feature that I like so far. I discovered it quite by accident when I was trying to get Siri to speak more slowly. In the same location on Settings, I discovered a new switch.

A Little Pain and a Big Smile

Robert EbsenOP-ED

I have had a little pain since I fell on my side 10 days ago. The pain is a 1, unless I try to lift my left leg. Then it can become a 2 or 3. I have had a smile on my face, since I was born. I am just a happy guy. While I was in the pool this morning, looking up at the trees, the sky and beyond, I did a little thinking. Why am I smiling if I am in pain?

My Summer Fall

Robert EbsenOP-ED

As you, my readers, know, I write about things I enjoy doing. I really don't enjoy falling, so I wasn't going to write about what happened two days ago.
But then I spoke to my friend, Barry, and he suggested I write about the positive outcomes of that event. I am.

BrainPOP Recorded!

Robert EbsenOP-ED

I just figured out (with the help of Google) how to record the audio and video of my beloved BrainPOP cartoons. Now I can watch them again whenever I want. BrainPOP is a free app that, when downloaded, shows a free three-minute educational cartoon each day. Of course, the app has several other free movies and, with a subscription, hundreds of animations arranged by various topics are available.

Calculation Fun

New devices always are coming along to help us with calculating, and thus further automatizing, our lives. Now I can easily tell:

Connected Better

Robert EbsenOP-ED

When I was about to return to my popup card hobby this week after a three-month hiatus, I spied my old glue gun. I hesitated to pick it up. Then I smiled. I knew that the glue gun had seen its last job. I reached for sheets of my mini glue dots. What can the glue dots do that the glue gun cannot do?

JibJab Fun

Robert EbsenOP-ED

This morning I discovered a new FUN hobby. I laughed out loud when I watched my productions. I am so glad I didn’t have time to send my grandson a traditional birthday card! That’s right. My grandson’s birthday is today. I sent him gifts via Amazon Prime, but didn’t send a card. My wife suggested I send him an e-card. I am so glad JibJab Sendables caught my eye.

Boxes and Boxes

Robert EbsenOP-ED

I had forgotten that I am a box-aholic. I must have spent three hours today in the garage organizing. It really helped to set up the two six-foot folding tables on which to dump the contents of four large plastic boxes. I set up my empty plastic shoeboxes to sort the contents. Among the items I decided to save, were …
