Dateline Jerusalem — I have always been blessed with wonderful friends. Some I have known for over 50 years, others have become an integral part of my life in just the last three years I have lived in Israel.

appropriate description for modern times.

Dateline Jerusalem — It is that time of year again when I have to renew the lease on my apartment. My landlord has not told me how much he will be raising the rent, but I expect it will be a hefty amount since he always increases it. Yet in the three years I have lived here, the only change to my apartment has been the rent. Landlords in Israel are like those nowhere else. Tenants are responsible for everything.

Dateline Jerusalem — It is midnight and the temperature is down to 85 degrees with 74 percent humidity.

Dateline Jerusalem — I awakened to birds chirping, not the usual mating chant of pigeons sitting on the air conditioner outside my bedroom window.

Dateline Jerusalem — This week I celebrate my third anniversary in Israel. “Mazal tov” and “congratulations” are in order.

Dateline Jerusalem — I am a people watcher. And Israel is the perfect place to watch people because it is a melting pot. People from every country, every religion, every ethnicity, and every culture live together in peace in this country.
