Dateline Dayton — This week I would like to tell you about another of the gems of my town, “The Engineers Club of Dayton,” and especially their fabulous building.

Dateline Dayton — I have just returned from another trip to Florida, this time for our son’s surgery. Fortunately, everything went well and Chris has made a spectacular recovery.

Dateline Dayton — Dayton is known as the “Gem City,” and we still have many buildings here that are gems. Unfortunately, many others have gone the way of what was to save downtown Dayton, urban renewal.

Dateline Dayton — I, like hopefully many other fathers, enjoyed an outstanding Father’s Day.

Dateline Dayton — Child abuse is everywhere, even on comedy television shows. Last night I watched “In the Middle,” and the episode involved the eldest son having to take care of a baby for his sex education.

Dateline Dayton — Realizing I have written often about child abuse, and some may feel too much, however, I believe, we must keep everyone aware of this serious problem in our society.

Dateline Dayton — Here I am again, on my soap box. Maybe I should quit reading the newspaper and watching the news on television. I probably should stick with the few television shows I really enjoy; Pickers, American Restoration and Pawn Stars. Maybe then I would not get so worked up.

Dateline Dayton — Last Friday, Pauline and I were to start a getaway weekend. It didn’t happen because her brother ended up in the hospital, and she needed to stay close, in case he would be released, which also didn’t happen.

Dateline Dayton —Sometime ago, Forbes magazine listed Dayton as one of the dying cities in this country.

Dateline Dayton —In an effort to provide you only with correct information, here is a change to last week’s Ramblings. The South Bend baseball team is not known as the Lugnuts. They are the Silver Hawks. The Lugnuts are from Lansing, MI. Sorry
