Next, Will the Government Tell Us When to Die?

Dateline Dayton – Don’t ever think all the lame brains are in Washington. Some are in Ohio, serving on the Steubenville School Board and others in the school’s administration.

After two football players were found guilty of rape, the school system rewarded the head coach with a contract extension when it appears that all 27 of them should have been fired for what they knew.

It has been reported that the coach and school officials were aware of the problem, and they refused to report the situation to anyone. In fact, the coach is said to have made fun of the rape. In football, and for that matter sports in general, they circle the guilty patties and protect them.

I hope Ohio’s attorney general will not back down and actually go after everyone involved in this brutal attack. Mike DeWine appears to be moving slowly,  and I must believe it’s because he wants to do it right the first time, not because of pressure being put on him, politically and otherwise.

There are parents who need to be in jail for allowing a party that got so far out of hand, to take place in their home. Then there’s the store or individual(s) who actually provided the alcohol, who also need to be prosecuted.

I’m actually shocked that the Ohio Athletic Association, has not come forward and demanded changes be made in Steubenville High School Athletic Department. What a terrible example they are setting for all of Ohio’s outstanding athletics, who do exhibit high moral standards.

It is time that we start demanding that athletics both professional and amateur, exhibit high moral standards. It appears that if you beat your wife, that is okay. You still can draw your high salary and play. Drugs, alcohol, violence, you name it, most of the time, it matters little in sports.

It’s no wonder there’s drugs, alcohol and rape in high school athletics: The pros do it, and get away with it.

The other day my son, who works for hospice, was complaining about the state of healthcare in this country. I told him I don’t feel sorry for anyone. The majority who went to the polls voted back in almost all of the same poor administration we had for the previous four years, and I’m talking across the board.

Until we wake up and demand change, we will continue to just coast along. Pauline’s doctor, who is not old, is giving up his nursing home/assisted living practice as well as cutting back on his office hours. I wouldn’t be surprised if we experience much of the same throughout the country. The government wants to run our lives and President Obama has an agenda, which is not in our best interests.

It isn’t going to be long before the government will be telling us when we must die, if we aren’t taxed to death before then. Nothing is going to change in any arena, until we demand it.
