Stand Against Armenta Is Disappointing

Your website has always been a source of solid reporting and even wisdom, in my experience.

I was shocked to see you taking up the cause against Christopher Armenta in the state Assembly race.

Instead, why aren't you inquiring as to the reason for squandering more public funds on this special election carefully scheduled at a time when they know voter turnout will be abysmal?

This should have been on the ballot Nov. 5 along with the Culver City School Board.

To embrace a 26-year-old candidate (regardless of his intelligence) who has never held public office, as our state Assembly member, is really a vote for his powerful father.

Some day no doubt, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas will have acquired the experience and wisdom we deserve in our representatives.

Give him the time to do that.  Meanwhile, Mr. Armenta is only candidate with the knowledge and experience for the job.

Ari Noonan responds: Despite his tender years, Mr. Ridley-Thomas, half the age of his opponent, is far more widely connected in Sacramento than Mr. Armenta. Mature beyond his years, listen to him only one time, and you may change your mind.

As for the special election date,  connecting it to Chanukah undermined any other argument he could mount. Gov. Brown set the date, as you must know. He did not consult the Ridley-Thomases.
