Accessible Methods for Escaping from Depression

Nicholas PollakOP-ED

Depression is awful for anyone who suffers from it. Good days and bad days, but every day is as if you are walking through a fog, unable to connect with anyone.

When you visit the doctor, he sends you to a psychiatrist who prescribes an anti- depressant that soon enough stops working. The doctor next recommends a separate medication intended to boost what you already are taking. It helps temporarily. Depression, though, creeps back.

Taking drugs to resolve issues of depression and pain may be acceptable, but where do you turn when your body builds up a tolerance/resistance to those drugs?

Increase dosage for doses for less effect?

Try different medication?

I have seen many clients with depression, and most I have helped. A couple I could not. They were buried so deeply inside their condition. Worse, there were so many beneficial reasons to stay depressed that they were not open to change. If the client were to rid himself of the condition, family dynamics would drastically be altered. Ultimately, the client would be worse off.

Commonly, depression starts in childhood. The father was depressed. We learn and we act as our fathers do. Their problems become ours.

Roots of Behavior

Behavior is locked within the subconscious. The hypnotherapist’s goal is to help a client gain control over his subconscious by providing imagery of what it is like to be happy, to act happy, to become happy. The subconscious merely gives you the behaviors you have taught it based on what you saw and the environment in which you were raised.

Hypnosis attacks these behaviors and helps a client to start to program the subconscious with newly desired behaviors.

The subconscious does not decide what is good or bad. That is the job of your conscious mind. Your subconscious stores all the information of your life. You react according to what you have learned.

Eating Is at the Core

Poor nutrition frequently is a contributing factor to depression, specifically low blood sugar. When you eat enough, regardless of what you consume, you make good decisions based on logic, not emotion. When hungry, you decide from an emotional level. When you eat small, protein-rich meals every two hours, you stabilize your blood sugar levels, fending off high highs and low lows. You are maintaining a good, steady blood sugar level. This means you consistently make sound decisions. In addition, depression eases and disappears.

Where depression is deeply ingrained, hypnosis does not work. Hypnosis is powerful when a depressed client has the motivation to be better. Generally, such persons succeed. They do not make excuses for the way they feel. They see themselves as more focused and upbeat.

Remember, we are more successful than we realize. You are where you have chosen to be as a result of every action and thought you have had. Once you fully accept this responsibility, that you have the power to change everything about yourself, your depression declines. In short order, you will be enjoying the new you that you have programmed.
