Only the Peanut Butter

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Everything went through the airport scanner okay – except for the jar of peanut butter.  I told the TSA agent to keep it for herself. I had thought that one of the 20 articles I had read online said that peanut butter was acceptable to take aboard the plane.  Not to worry though. We had taken a few other things to eat.

There were those quart-size bags of mixed nuts, peanut butter pretzels, and Lara bars.  A few bananas and apples, and a gallon bag of cold cereal rounded off our foodstuffs.

Last night at our first hotel, I picked a few apples and oranges from the bowl on the reception desk.

This morning, at the end of the hotel's sumptuous breakfast, I pocketed a few bananas, apples and oranges, and I filled our two plastic water bottles.

At this point you may be thinking, “What a cheap so-and-so.  Why doesn't this guy just go out to restaurants to eat?”

We can't because of dietary restrictions.  Since we won't get to our first supermarket until this evening, we thought we would get by with our stash.

Guess what I devoured with extra gusto at the breakfast table this morning?  Yep.  Peanut butter and jelly!
