Re “After Ferguson, ‘We Have Come Long Way,’ Mayor Says of Culver City”

It was with interest that I read the comments of Culver City Mayor Sahli-Wells!  

Being a former elected official in Culver City and a two-term member of the city’s Civil Service Commission (1978-1987), I need to clarify a mistake in her political comments.

The Culver City Police Dept. is and has been one of the most diverse departments in Culver City for the last 30 years.

This began under the leadership of Chief Ted Cooke. It continues today under Chief Scott Bixby and all the other chiefs who served in this century.

Having stories passed on through rumors and legends do no one good but for the teller of the story.
