Re “Rotary Donates Time and Money to Shelter the Homeless”

Regarding the Upward Bound facility at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Beethoven Street in West Culver City, Upward Bound may indeed have been helping homeless families since 1991, but not in Culver City. (Their main facility is in Santa Monica.)

The conditional use permit for the Culver City location was issued by the Planning Commission on Oct. 24, 2007. It took approximately two more years for that facility to become ready for occupancy.

I fully support the work of this philanthropic organization. I live within five blocks.

I can vouch that they are excellent neighbors and provide a much needed service to homeless families.

They have only been actively doing it in Culver City, however, since 2009.
