Sometimes my clients are disappointed when they feel the hypnosis they have undergone is not working for them. They stop coming.
- A lady who had vestiphobia (fear of wearing clothing.) stopped coming after her third session because she believed the work we were doing was having no effect. Eight weeks later she was clamoring to make another appointment. She had just spent two hours in a Jacuzzi, wearing a tight-fitting bikini, and she never gave her outfit a thought. She had worn a tight-fitting blouse and pencil skirt the day before. No trouble at all. She realized her phobia was gone. To ensure it was over, she returned for her final three sessions.
- A lady with repeated obsessive thoughts expressed the skepticism of the vestiphobia client. Three sessions had not worked. She was not coming back. Three months later, she called to say what we had done was not working, but she realized she had not suffered a panic attack or obsessive thought for two months. To her shock, she was better. When she woke up to that, she felt compelled to call. Hypnosis absolutely had helped, she admitted.
- A lady who was trying to quit smoking, again, left after three sessions. This time it took three weeks. Stepping off a bus, she took out her cigarettes, changed her mind, threw away the pack and has not smoked since.
Milking the Concept?
One woman thought I was trying to get her to come to more sessions while telling her hypnotic changes take time. When she became convinced I was right, she apologized.
Hypnosis for change is an ongoing process. One exception. Most people are average hypnotic subjects. They may not go deep at first. As they become more familiar with the methodology, they go deeper and resolve their issues.
A somnambulist is the exeception. A somnambulist outside of hypnotherapy circles is a sleepwalker. Within the hypnotic community a somnambulist is a deep level subject. He or she will go to the deepest levels of hypnosis within a very short period. My record for taking a person was 1.5 seconds.
Here Is a Sleeper
A somnambulist easily will accept any suggestion. When being hypnotized for changes, he or she will comprehend the change straightaway. A resolution often is reached are within one session, never more than three. A somnambulist accepts all communications with no filter. He or she has a tendency to walk around in a continual state of hypnosis — without realizing it. On occasion, they will hear something and act on it without realizing it.
After hearing a commercial for Miracle Grow, a woman rushed out to make a purchase. a store Returning home, she remember she did not have plants or a backyard.
Hypnosis is created by overloading a conscious mind, so that it shuts down, creating access to your subconscious. Lacking a filter, a somnambulist accepts all inferential or literal statements. The person swiftly becomes overloaded and hypnotized.
One person in five is a somnambulist.
The other 80 percent have a mixture of literal and inferential communication. They need longer to hypnotize for the changes they want.
When seeing a hypnotherapist, remember that a hypnotist never can make you do anything you do not want to do. He cannot hypnotize you if you do not want to be hypnotized.
I tell clients, “If you follow my suggestions quickly, without thinking too much about them, you will have a successful hypnotic experience. You will swiftly create your changes.”
