Susie Rice, who tried to make lying a playful national sport when she was President Obama’s national security advisor, emerged from under a desk last week.
Enough time has passed for people to forget her failures, she reasoned.
In a New York Times essay, she hooked her thumbs into her ears and made faces at President Trump.
Eleven months after her example-setting boss, Mr. Obama, slinked out of office schlepping a bulging satchel of papered-over scandals, Ms. Rice it was safe to go public in the wake of her bald Benghazi lies.
That towering and tragic scandal was widely — but incuriously — reported by the Democrat media at the height of the 2012 campaign.
Which brings us back to the president.
In the runup to his first term, and throughout his eight White House years, Mr. Obama out-traveled the sun.
He flew out of Washington so often the globe grew dizzy.
Mr. Obama’s mission statement never varied. He never tired of telling an eager world how often and how viciously America has willfully stumbled in what he regards as its extremely checkered history.
In his non-stop foreign travels, open-facedly the deceitful Mr. Obama punched America in the nose far more frequently than did his pal Vladimir.
Mr. Obama was more critical of America than the bloody Iranian regime.
His virtually daily tours were apology exercises for sins that he perceived.
You may recall that a few weeks before the 2012 election, the unembarrassable Mr. Obama, caught on a live mike, whispered to a Russian official that he could “tell Vladimir I will have more flexibility after the election.”
The left-wing listened, shrugged and still is ignoring it.
As for Benghazi, sloppiness and overt lies by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a vastly uncaring president led to the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi 60 days before the 2012 election.
The uncaring president knew his media. And they were his boys.
He sent Susie Rice out to the next Sunday television shows. He ordered her to tell such a preposterous lie – that an obscure, meaningless video triggered the massacre — that even a seasoned liar such as Ms. Rice had to grip each knee with a hand to keep from giggling.
Turning to the media, she said, “Open wide, boys.”
“How is this?” asked Wolfie Blitzer.
They swallowed fast.
For the past five years and three months, they have mocked every Republican who has demanded a probe of the truth.
It is in this wretched context that Ms. Rice brushed off years of dirt and wrote a New York Times essay headlined “(President Trump’s) ‘America First’ Makes America Weak.”
America Last seems more to her taste.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle a name…
Are you serious, Ms. Rice?
