There will be an unusual participatory meeting this evening at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers.
The subject: Shaping the new landscaping at City Hall.
On Sept. 20, the city turns 100 years old, and change is coming.
In recognition of Culver City’s Centennial, coupled with past drought conditions, two architects have been selected as finalists to submit competing conceptual designs to replace City Hall’s landscaping.
The project includes replacing plants with drought tolerant landscaping and creation of a new Centennial Garden to memorialize the city’s anniversary that includes public art and gathering spaces.
The special City Council meeting will be held to receive in-depth presentations from the two competing firms.
That is where residents’ input comes in. City Hall is seeking community opinions on which design to select.
This Council meeting is dedicated to providing ample time to thoroughly review the presentations and to subsequently engage the attendees in a question and answer session.
Upon conclusion of the presentations and before leaving the meeting, audience members will be asked to fill out a survey to indicate which design is preferred.
