Re “Asst. Super Reynolds Is Retiring

Closing out his fifth year as assistant superintendent for business services for the School District, Mike Reynolds is going to be working on Irving Place longer than expected.

His retirement, disclosed here earlier this week, will start Nov. 1, not July 1.  Supt. Josh Arnold and the School Board plan to have his successor in place by the start of July.

At 67 years old, it may be time for Mr. Reynolds to reduce his working hours, but he is not retiring.

He is returning to one of the loveliest, most under-rated communities in Southern California, remote and romantic Temecula.

“I am going back to work for the family business, Reynolds Consulting Group,” which Mr. Reynolds and his wife Andy founded in 1994.

Not only is Mrs. R. the president, “she is a great boss,” her favorite employee says – objectively. “We provide services to a dozen school districts throughout the state.”

Mr. Reynolds said the family business “is a little more flexible in terms of hours,” he said. “It is time to retire from fulltime work,” he said.

The Reynoldses have resided in Temecula for 25 years.

Mr. Reynolds applied for the assistant super position in 2012 when Dave Rose was beginning a four-year run as superintendent. The two seemed inseparable until Mr. LaRose resigned a year ago.

“Coming here was the best move I ever made,” Mr. Reynolds said.
