Wildcats are in the house. Culver City’s Musical Theatre Workshop will present a stage version of the wildly popular Disney movie, “High School Musical,” at the Robert Frost Auditorium, 4401 Elenda Ave., next weekend. The dates are Friday, Jan. 26 (at 8), , Saturday (at 11, 2, 5 and 8) and Sunday (at 12 noon, 3 and 7).
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids 14 and under, $5 for seniors (65 and over), available at the door. School District teachers gain free admission.

The show is directed by Dolores Aguanno with choreography by Lisa Kobashi. As with all workshops and summer day camps offered by dee-Lightful Productions Unlimited, the lead roles in “High School Musical” have been double cast for both a younger and an older group so that more children and teens can experience the responsibility of a principal role. The younger cast (ages 7-12) will perform the daytime shows. The older cast (ages 12-17) will perform evening shows.

According to artistic director Dolores Aguanno, “High School Musical tells a story that kids really seem to relate to — about two unlikely prospects (a basketball player and a braniac) who land the lead roles in the school musical, much to the horror of the usual ‘stars.’ It is the story of different social groups recognizing, challenging and finally accepting each others’ differences.”

dee-Lightful Productions Unlimited is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to providing unique educational experiences through musical theater for children and teens, ages 7 -17. Since 1999, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services has sponsored dee- Lightful Productions’ theatre camps and workshops, providing facilities for rehearsals and access to performance space.
