It would be irresponsible to revoke the permit of the Farmers Market, which is not due to expire until summer 2007. 

     The Casden proposal has yet to demonstrate that it would be of greater benefit to Westwood Village residents and adjacent communities. The Farmers Market is reserved with a valid permit, one afternoon a week, and then the street is open to traffic.

     Is Casden’s plan to bring in trucks and heavy equipment to park in this area every day of the week? For how long? Is the developer seeking another site to handle this project? 

 

     We are fortunate to have the services of a Farmers Market that includes the health and well-being of the community for now, and  hopefully into the future.

     Meanwhile, it is imperative that L.A. 5th District City Councilman Jack Weiss represent his constituency by having Aaron Shapiro of the Westwood Village Markets Board, and commercial developer Alan Casden get together to find a solution to abide by through the summer 2007 permit. 

 

     Canceling a permit with only two weeks to go is like Cinderella and the clock striking 12.

    This is an urgent action alert.

     Time is running out.                     

 

     It’s not too late.
