Bidding Adieu to Ridley-Thomas. Oops, He Beat Us to It by a Few Years.

When Mark Ridley-Thomas was running for County Supervisor 4½ years ago, some voters, not accidentally, thought of him as God.

Like many office-seekers, he was ubiquitous. He would appear on three Culver City street corners, simultaneously, attired in three different business suits.

Must have deliberately pasted stale gum onto the soles of his shoes so they would stick to the pavement.

He never left here.

He spent more time in Culver City than the late Albert Vera.

Never slept. He sold all of his pillows.

Who needed them?

He would not leave town until the last yawning voter safely had been tucked into bed and was snoring.

Unfailingly the next morning, he would turn up across the breakfast table before the first restaurant opened.

He must have been kidnapped by aliens after the election, though.

Nobody has seen him since.

Where Did He Go?

In office, he holds a near perfect record of snubbing Culver City, except for late-night flyovers.

Like a conveniently stubborn former Mrs. Noonan or two, he plunges even deeper underground when someone, horrors, disagrees with him. If you hollowly nod yes, on cue, you are a drum major. If not, find a new home, pal.

Should he ever return to Culver City, he could rent a sandwich board. Twenty dollars an hour is affordable. Liberals steal more than that while sleeping.

His latest Napoleonic tantrum followed another of his typically robotic, inflammatory displays by a foot-stomping racist liberal behavior.

In a reason-free essay in the Huffington Post in late February, he affirmed the Voting Rights Act as it was written in 1965. Said no racial progress has been made in the South. Ah, to be a blind, lily-livered, racist liberal. As you know, dear reader, the world has not changed in these 48 years. That would mess up the racist left’s favorite mantra. Make no mistake: That is what is going on with Mr. Ridley-Thomas and a huge body of white and black race-crazed  leftists.

Our country probably is fortunate that Mr. Ridley-Thomas was born black instead of white.

Had he been born white – applying the same intractable ignorance, holding that the world never changes – he would have voted against ending slavery.

Too bad for all of us that he and his lefty pals slept through the American version of the Enlightenment.

Thankfully, normal people have been in charge of our country for most of the last 150 years – so that our wel-fare-chasing friends on the left may cavort as free men.

Looking Back and Weeping

In reviewing our files from 2½ years ago when the Board of Supervisors was in the midst of an overheated redistricting campaign, I came across a Ridley-Thomas gem. This would have cost him a failing grade in Logic class. Unless he had asked to be pardoned as a leftist. Read carefully.

“These requirements were not created abstractly to promote the political dominance of one interest group at the expense of other groups, but to serve all voters fairly. That the maps submitted by Supervisor Molina and me result in the creation of Latino-opportunity voting districts is purely a consequence of our commitment to abide by the civil rights laws that undergird our representative democracy and that have made our County better.”

“Latino” is one of those yanked-from-the-clouds, fictive, left-spawned terms lazy liberals love to substitute when a normal lexicon won’t twist.

Try to digest his Obama-ish illogic without choking.

On an August day in 2011, he and Glory B. sought to “serve all voters fairly” – except for a few mill of us who are not Latino.

Unless he is in his cups, not even an automatic lefty like Mr. Ridley-Thomas could explain with a straight face what a “Latino-opportunity voting district” is.

With freedom for all.

Ah, yes.

Breathe deeply and inhale before Mr. Ridley-Thomas and jealous lefty pals try to outlaw it.
