Duh No. 8: No More Nicks

Robert EbsenOP-ED

I don’t think I’ve ever told you how happy I was to have discovered recently that I could use my electric shaver in the shower. Funny, I just never thought of trying it.

Before I made this great discovery, I used a Gillette razor. From time to time (almost every week), there was the inevitable nick – and the inevitable toilet paper attempt to stop the bleeding.

In the past, I used my electric razor once every two weeks or whenever I noticed my whiskers were growing. I didn’t have the time or energy to shave with hot water and soap. Yes, I used soap.

I still use soap, and it gives me a nice shave with the electric razor. It’s no problem charging the razor once each week. I never have gone back to the old razor.

Duh No. 9: Circles and Lines. Oh, My!

For weeks I have been frustrated, trying to draw circles and straight lines on my sketches of the TreePeople Park. I have been mapping the locations of trees and shrubs. Quite a few circular areas (cisterns) and pathways are in the park.

Today I decided to Google “How to draw circles and straight lines using my Photoshop Elements.” The hints from contributors came fast. Within an hour I had scanned in my sketches, sent them to Photoshop Elements, and drawn beautiful lines and circles exactly where I wanted them. I’ve got to remember to Google almost anything to find answers. It works about 95 percent of the time!

Duh No. 10: More Chugging, Less Coughing

My 39-year-old cough is a lot better, thanks to the purchase of a few Rubbermaid Chug-Top water bottles and a Checklist on the door to the garage, that I make myself read before leaving the house. With a bottle in my car, in my back pocket when I’m outside, and around the house at all times, I’m reminded to chug water all through the day. To think, I heard I should drink lots of water 35 years ago. Will I ever learn?
