Fun Holder for My iPhone

Robert EbsenOP-ED

Look what I just purchased on the Internet. It looks like a small gooseneck lamp – without the lamp. Instead of a lamp it has a clasp to hold the iPhone. The neat thing is that it clips onto almost anything.

I can clip the iPhone holder on:

• The visor of my car to take video of the road ahead, or to see my iPhone’s GPS map, or to receive a hands-off phone call.

• The tray table at my airplane seat, to watch movies while I eat those peanut snacks.

• A book or a tray on my bed so I can watch videos without having to hold the iPhone.

• If I am in a place where I have nothing to clip my device onto, with a twist of the gooseneck I can wrap the device around a nearby tree or pole or almost whatever. Then I can get in the picture or video.

• Since the device holds the camera still while taking videos, I can use it to video movies from the TV. HULU.com appears to have all the NOVA episodes. I can set the camera on video and turn it on tonight. It will record the hour-long video without my holding the camera, while I am sleeping, and the video will look professional. In the morning, I will have a video file I can save to my computer and then sync back to my iPhone so I can watch the video tomorrow while I wait for my car to be repaired. I also can stream the movie file to my Apple TV, and watch the movie on my big screen TV.

I enjoy looking at trees and taking pictures of the trees’ fruit, flowers, leaves and bark. Occasionally, I saw a fruit that was too high up in the tree to photograph. Now I have a solution. I can clamp my iPhone holder to a long stick, lift up the stick and take that photo I otherwise would not have gotten.

I enjoy making animated movies using objects. Now I don’t have to pull out my bulky and huge tripod. I can clip my iPhone holder to the back of a chair, for example, and touch the camera’s button ever so slightly every time I move an object around. Since the iPhone holder rotates around 360 degrees, I can easily move the camera for different views.

I’m having FUN just thinking about what else I can clip my new toy to. CLIP-CLIP.
