Re: “How a LaRose Philosophy Works”
If the School Board consents, Culver City High School’s successor to former principal Dr. Dylan Farris, formally will be approved at the Tuesday, April 28 Board meeting.
Sentiment is strong for Dr. Lisa Cooper who has held the position since October when Dr. Farris left for the El Segundo School District.
Supt. Dave LaRose’s intricately organized search party has been combing lists since February, and the exact introduction date was not randomly chosen.
“We have a lot of reasons for moving fast through this process,” Mr. LaRose said. “First, we wanted to be one of the first school systems out there advertising for a principal. “We wanted a wide and deep pool.
“We believe that this is a very, very attractive position, community and school system.
“We also wanted to be able to make a decision early enough so that the first time the Centaur team was visiting with, discussing and engaging in the work ahead with a principal, it was not two days before the first day of school.
“How do we make a decision so there are weeks and weeks left in the school year so we can coordinate time for the new principal to be connected with the team?
“We also want the new principal to be involved in decisions for the ’15-’16 school year, which will include the hiring of an assistant principal as well,” Mr. LaRose said.
“It is important to make a decision as soon as possible.”
